Kayla Regan
Kayla invites you to read her words here.
Kayla Regan attends the University of Kansas, where she is majoring in journalism with a minor in English. She hopes to graduate in May 2010, although she finds that she's not overly excited about the prospect of entering the competitive job market with a degree in news and information. (For the record, we know Kayla will land the job of her dreams and succeed in her chosen profession.)
She loves journalism. She says that she can't seem to get away from it. Last year, she was a reporter for The University Daily Kansan, and continued contributing travel pieces for the paper while she interned in Dublin over the summer.
Kayla spent her time abroad working for an LGBT publication and made it her personal patriotic mission to overturn some of the all too familiar anti-American stereotypes. This was particularly hard, as she thinks she already had a strike against her by being from the same state as Fred Phelps. Nonetheless, Kayla thinks she fulfilled her duty well. Now that she's back in the states, Kayla is excited to keep writing and working for causes that she believes in.
Other than that, Kayla says that she's a huge music nerd and book worm. She laughs a lot and at everything from potty jokes to sophisticated satire (if she gets it). Her ideal day includes spending time in the great outdoors with family and friends. Her dislikes include loud noises, the gym and Tom Cruise post 2004.
We are thrilled to welcome Kayla to the Kansas Free Press and we look forward to all of her news stories and opinion pieces.
