Claudean McKellips
Claudean McKellips welcomes you to read her words here.
Claudean McKellips has taught at the high school and college level since 1997. Helping students find their voice in reading, writing and thinking brings her the greatest joy. She has found her niche in the public alternative and charter schools where it is still possible to escape canned curriculum and some aspects of NCLB. She is especially interested in leveling the playing field for first-generation college students.
Raised in a blue-collar Kansas family, by people who knew it was not a crime to be poor, she is also drawn to labor issues. She has a few degrees, a truck and a one-eyed dog. She will be writing about all of the above.
We are certainly thrilled to have Claudean join our band of citizen journalists in Kansas.
