Cheryl Hudspeth
Cheryl welcomes you to read her posts here.
Like many southeast Kansans, Cheryl Hudspeth's family moved west from the Erie Canal region of upstate New York. Married with two children, she moved to Girard, Kansas in 2005, when her mortgage-lending job in Wichita moved to the east coast.
Most of Cheryl's work has been in rural and community development, including economic development. When the banks started giving away mortgages there was less of that work, so she went into banking.
"When you work in a small pond you think that those in a big pond must know more than you do. The reality is that the same principles of good business and financial management are needed, regardless of scale. As most people in Kansas know, big is not better than smarter."
Cheryl has extensive experience in local governance and community building, having served on numerous committees and governing boards. She is a lifelong Democrat and is a 2010 candidate for the Kansas 2nd Congressional seat.
