Tom Page: A Man and a Legend

Tom Page, a soft-spoken guy who would be unlikely to stand out in a crowd, was a phenomenon who lived enough life for ten people in his 76 years. Tom, who died in August 2013, was a multi-faceted man, one of those people who, if you didn't know him well, you would think he was exaggerating his life story when he told it. The fact is, the man lived everywhere and pretty much did everything in the time he was alive. And everything he did was good.

Tom's family held a celebration of his life at Watermark Books and Café in Wichita, Saturday evening, Oct. 19, 2013. The event was well attended, as would be expected given that Tom touched so many people in so many different ways.

Finally ! ! !

Now maybe we can expect some governing action that is relevant to present reality. We've lost most of the last 3 years while some disgruntled and defeated folks try dismantling the constitututional facts of how our government works. If you lose you just pick up your things and move on just isn't their way of doing things.

Instead of accepting reality we have had a few Tea Party radicals that have tried to stop government and have their own little tea party.

Our honorable (??) Representative Huelscamp most likely voted negative as usual. I haven't seen the voting record yet. I wish someone could point out any significant input he has had in any thing that relates to sensible government action. He has loyally kept in step with the radical right wing conservative menu. He can't even get along with his own party's leadership. How do you expect him to be able to work for bi-partisan solving of everyday legislative actions. And, like it or not, we have differences of opinions and solutions and as long as we have free elections and popular voteing privileges we will have to work together for the best outcome for society, not just a few on the extreme ends.
