PRETTY PRAIRIE, Kan. - As a change of pace I am posting a few poems I wrote this winter and late spring.
Memories from the pond
girls I loved
girls I impressed
cattle slurping dark water
ducks flying
jumping fences
pheasant shot
my brother, my dad, my brother
my friend, my boy, my girl
Memories of the pond
Tractor time
Alone on the tractor
Back and forth across the field
The hum and vibration
The baseball game on the radio
I stop
My body still hums and vibrates with the tractor
My legs surprisingly rubbery
Back in the tractor
The sun sets
The game is over
Playing Coltrane
Dark of night
Hum and vibration
Shadows from the tractor lights
Sweet sounds
Mesmerized till it's over
I walk back to the truck
Darkness
Soil
Night sky
Warm August air
My Love Supreme
Waiting for spring
Gardeners, like vagabonds
Sitting on the side of the road
Waiting for spring to come by and give them a ride
Immobilized by lingering winter
They wait, listless, on the side of the road of life
Unable to do anything
Until the sun shines forth with permission

Bill, these are magnificent. We are honored that you share these with everyone here. Wonderful!
